Juanita Wooton is a senior homeowner living alone with her cat in Germantown. She needs a walker to move around her house due to severe arthritis and lives on Social Security. Because of her limited mobility and income, Juanita was faced with a growing number of home repairs as well as a leaky roof, repairs that could not afford to fix.

Juanita found URDC thanks to an article in the Philadelphia Corporation for Aging’s Milestones newsletter. After estimating the costs of her repairs, URDC offered Ms. Wooton a grant of $1,200 to patch her roof and perform electrical work. The remaining work was performed through a volunteer day with Abington Presbyterian Church who painted, put up sheet rock, and did other interior jobs.
